Because I’ve been producing music since the early 1980s there is a high stack of evidence (read publications) available. Most of it can be found here.

Textuur
Textuur is a long lasting project. It started in 2019 and led to 3 albums released. It is a series where I investigate processes with which to strip sounds from their original context and slice them into tiny bits.
Each Textuur project is built up in a similar fashion. First there are the collections which consist of samples of the original material. The other group consists of various permutations.
Listeners are invited to design their own permutation or permutation of the permutation.
In May 2024 Textuur 4 was premiered at the Akousma Festival in Paris. Release is pending.

Submerge Emerge
For this project I took Stephane Malllarmé’s poem “Un Coup De Des” as inspiration. The structure of the album follows that of the poem itself.
The central theme of the poem, at least what I got out of it, is that of a creator/artist (the captain) sailing the endless ocean on his ship. The ocean represents the creative state of mind. Sometimes there are prevailing winds. On other occasions huge gales toss the ship around with towering waves moving everyone off course, if not sinking the lot. And then there are the doldrums, the parts where, yes, the sea is calm, but there is no wind, and you’re not getting anywhere. Looking back at my own experience as an artist, I have seen all these weather conditions as well. Sometimes working on my music is smooth sailing, sometimes you’re getting nowhere.

Spaces
Spaces is a series of compositions based on recordings in museums. Each work builds on a binaural recording of the environmental sounds a museum and each has been processed based on different concepts. The approach for processing and adding of electronic sounds was inspired by an artwork that was hanging in the museum space. So space and artwork form a unity.
